Lyons Groups of Galaxies

Lyons Groups of Galaxies (oder LGG) ist ein astronomischer Katalog von nahen Galaxiengruppen komplett bis hinunter zu einer scheinbaren Helligkeit mB0 = 14,0m und Fluchtgeschwindigkeiten geringer als 5.500 km/s.

Methode

Bei Erstellung des Katalogs wurden zwei unterschiedliche Methoden zur Gruppenzuordnung verwendet:

Eine Filtermethode entwickelt von Huchra und Geller[1] und eine hierarchische Methode zuerst angewendet von R. Brent Tully[2]. Der Katalog ist die Zusammenführung der Ergebnisse beider Methoden.

Umfang

Der LGG enthält 485 Gruppen und 3.933 Galaxien.
