Bereavement benefit

Bereavement benefit (referred to as Bereavement Support Payment by the UK government) is a UK benefit paid to a husband/wife or civil partner of a person who has died in the previous 21 months. It replaced Bereavement Payment and Bereavement Allowance in April 2017. It comes in two parts: an initial lump sum payment and then up to 18 monthly payments. Eligibility depends on the age of the claimant and the deceased, and the deceased's National Insurance contributions record.[1]
