Carpet Booth Studios is an American recording studio. It provides production and recording services to independent and label artists.[1] It was founded in 2017 by Zach Zurn and is headquartered in Rochester, Minnesota, United States.[2]

History

Carpet Booth Studios was founded in 2017, with its headquarters in Rochester, Minnesota, United States.[3][4] The company is owned and operated by Zach Zurn, a songwriter, producer, and engineer.[5][6] Zurn named the studios Carpet Booth in homage to the production studio he constructed in his mother's basement.[7]

Carpet Booth Studios started in early 2017 as a temporary studio. It crowdfunded a loan of $10,000 through Kiva, a non-profit company that connects entrepreneurs and businesses in need with friends, family, and professional networks.[8]

The company has relocated to a former church building in Rochester, Minnesota.[5][7] Several Artists recorded at Carpet Booth Studios, including Yung Gravy, The Simpsons, Michael York, Doctor Elvis, Charlie Parr, Night Moves, Gully Boys,[9] and Mike Munson. Carpet Booth Studios has also worked with organizations and brands such as 20th Century Studios, Minnesota DFL, The Current, Amoeba Music, and G-Fuel.

In April 2020, Elvis Francois released an EP titled "Music is Medicine" to raise funds for COVID-19 relief.[10] It was recorded, mixed and mastered by Zach Zurn at Carpet Booth Studios in Rochester, Minnesota.[10][11]

Michael York, the voice actor for the character Clayton in The Simpsons episode "The Way of the Dog", recorded his dialogue with Zurn at Carpet Booth Studios in Rochester, Minnesota. York has since relocated to Rochester in 2022.

Recognition

In 2020, Carpet Booth Studios' Zach Zurn ranked 40th on the US Alternative Airplay Chart and 38th on US Pop Airplay Chart for the song "Oops" and received the RIAA-Gold award. In the same year, the studio ranked 5th on iTunes Country Music Chart for the song "Third St SW." Later, it ranked 21st in Billboard Emerging Artists Chart, 8th in iTunes Album Chart, and 1st in iTunes R&B Album Chart for the song "Music is Medicine."

Carpet Booth Studios received the RIAA-Gold award and several rankings in 2022, including 30th on Billboard Hot 100, 23rd on Pop Airplay, 25th on the ARIA Chart, 36th on Canadian Hot 100, 50th on The Irish Singles Chart, 23rd on The Official New Zealand Music Chart, 73rd on UK Singles Chart and 81st rank on The Billboard Global 200 for the song "Betty (Get Money)."
