Career

In 2009, Karlsbakk joined the youth academy of his hometown club Bryne, and signed his first professional contract in April 2019.[3][4] He made his senior debut for the club on 26 October 2019.[1] In June 2021, he injured his ankle while attempting a back flip, an injury that kept him on the sideline for much of the season.[5] On 7 December 2021, he signed a three-year contract with Viking.[6] On 21 April 2022, he made his competitive debut for the club in a Norwegian Football Cup match against Bodø/Glimt. He scored his first goal for the club against Haugesund on 25 June 2022.[1]

SC Heerenveen

On 31 January 2023, Karlsbakk signed a contract with Heerenveen until 2026,[7] following the sale of forward Amin Sarr, who left the club on a transfer to Olympique Lyon.[8] He made his debut for the club in the KNVB Cup against NAC Breda on 7 February 2023. Five days later he made his Eredivisie debut, coming on as a substitute against Feyenoord.

Personal life

He is a son of former footballer Eivind Karlsbakk.[6] Karlsbakk has compared himself to fellow Brynebu Erling Haaland, claiming they both have the same power in their game, which they acquired from their upbringing in Bryne and both having a similar diet, including forcemeat.[9][10]
