Emrah Ormanoğlu

Emrah Ormanoğlu is a Turkish freestyle wrestler competing in the 61 kg division. He is a member of Ankara ASKI Sports Club.[1][2][3]

Career

In 2021, he won the bronze medal in the men's 61 kg event at the 2021 European U23 Wrestling Championship held in Skopje, North Macedonia.[4][5] He competed in the 61 kg event at the 2021 World Wrestling Championships held in Oslo, Norway.[6]

In March 2022, he won the gold medal in his event at the European U23 Wrestling Championship held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.[7][8] He won one of the bronze medals in the men's 61 kg event at the 2022 U23 World Wrestling Championships held in Pontevedra, Spain.[9]

Personal life

Born in Ukraine, Ormanoğlu is of Turkish Meskhetian origin.[2] His family were originally deported from the Meskheti region of Georgia in 1944, and they later settled in Ukraine. In 2015, Ormanoğlu moved with his family to the Üzümlü district of Erzincan in Turkey. He acquired Turkish citizenship in 2017.[1]
