Funky Diamonds

Funky Diamonds was a German based girl group. They released two albums their self-titled debut was released in 1997 and their second one was Diamonds Are Forever and disbanded in 1999. The group's debut album, Funky Diamonds, was certified gold in Japan for 200,000 copies. The group originally consisted of the five members Simone, Diethilde, Indra, Sibel and Yvonne, who knew each other in private prior to their time together in the spotlight. Due to the consequences of a serious traffic accident, Sibel had to leave the group again, but Kira took her place in March 1996. She left the band three years later. From 1993 to 1996, the Funky Diamonds were active solely as a dance group, including as background dancers for DJ BoBo, Masterboy, Captain Jack. As a result, the record company Boombastic Music Berlin took notice of them and signed the friends. Also, their career was supported by vocal training from then on, so they soon advanced to singing artists. The group had great success mainly in Japan, but failed to materialize in Germany, despite opening appearances by the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC and high media presence. After seven singles and two albums, the group broke up in December 1999. Simultaneously with the release of the second album, Kira left the group. Although she can be heard on some of the songs, her photo was removed from the album cover because she also did not participate in any of the performances. However, she can be seen in the Japanese version.
