Reception
Iratta received positive reviews from critics.
Anjana George of The Times of India gave 4 out of 5 and wrote "Joju George has once again proved that he is an actor with calibre who can breathe life into every role that he plays. The movie is a suspense thriller that never forces anyone to hate or love any of the characters in it. Unlike the contemporary trend, the film belongs to everyone on screen. Iratta is a movie that draws you in, steals your breath and leaves you with pain."[5]
S. R. Praveen of The Hindu wrote "One cannot be sure of it, but it could be the confidence that a filmmaker gets from having something solid right at the end that has contributed to some of the rather lazy phases of writing in Iratta, Rohit MG Krishnan’s debut directorial. Rohit, who has also scripted the film, cannot be faulted for having that extra bit of confidence, for what he has in store is something which is gut-wrenching enough to redeem whatever has happened earlier."[6]
Sanjith Sidhardhan of OTTPlay gave 3 out of 5 and wrote "Malayalam actor Joju George has got a knack for choosing films that haunt the audience by the time they walk out of theatres. Be it Joseph, Chola or Nayattu, the actor’s performance as well as the story leaves many questions for the viewers to ponder over. Debutant Rohit MG Krishnan’s Iratta leaves you with the same experience at the end, even though the storytelling isn’t as potent as the three other films."[7]
Arjun Ramachandran of South First praised the film and wrote "Iratta is a well-paced crime thriller with an interesting plot and an amazing performance by Joju George, who is in full form."[8]
