Nomination bracelet

The brand Nomination became known for its series of bracelets, which could be customized and personalised. The bracelet consisted of replaceable pieces that could be picked up and then modified to make your own jewelry look. In the 1990s, American tourists noticed the style and brought it back to the United States where the fashion caught on.[1] The phenomenon became a trend in the 2000s, starting in the United States. The original Nomination bracelets were made of lightweight stainless steel and aimed primarily at young women, but as the phenomenon became more common, the company also released wider, darkened, more masculine models for men. However, the original materials are still preserved. The stones used in the bracelets are almost always cubic zirconia. After the bracelets hit the world, fakes and imitations also became more common, and numerous companies making similar jewelry entered the market. However, Nomination is the original developer of the jewelry type and is still the largest Italian manufacturer of customizable bracelets in the world.[2] The average price of a real jewel is 20-50 euros, and there are usually around 10 of them inserted into a bracelet.[3] The company's jewels can be considered relatively valuable compared to their day-to-day purpose. The typology of jewels is known in other parts of the world with the English name "Italian charm bracelets".

Following its breakthrough, Nomination acquired several new designers to its ranks and began expanding its collection to other jewelry and watches as well. Stainless steel was kept as the main material, silver and gold were used as the new materials. In this case, the company has also adopted genuine gemstones. Nowadays, the company launches several new jewelry collections every year and most of them are complete, i.e. rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings. In addition to the assembled bracelets, the selection includes about 20 other jewelry sets at one time.[4] As of 2008, the company already has 35 stores selling only its own brand in several major cities.[5] Since 2006, Nomination has had a store in Milan in Corso Venezia, a shopping street known for its prestigious high fashion.

Modular design

A starter Italian charm bracelet consists of eighteen blank links. In order to create a personalized Italian charm bracelet, these blank links are replaced with individually designed Italian charms. Italian charms are flat, modular links that hook together. While traditional charms dangle, Italian charms feature individual pieces soldered flat onto the surface of the link.

Italian charms are compatible across brands due to standardized sizing. The modular design means that the charms on an Italian charm bracelet are interchangeable. An individual Italian charm can be switched out for a new look or to better suit the mood or changing interests of an individual.

Laser engraved charms

An Italian charm bracelet can be assembled in many styles. Italian charms can be grouped to follow a theme such as family, a specific color, career or hobby.
