Jodie Allen

Jodie T. Allen has been a senior editor at the Pew Research Center since January 2005.[1][2]

She joined the Pew Center from U.S. News & World Report where she was a managing editor and the business editor and also wrote a bi-weekly column on the political economy.[3] She came to U.S. News from Slate Magazine, where she was the Washington bureau chief. Before joining Slate, she was the editor of Outlook, the Sunday commentary section of The Washington Post. She has also been an editorial writer and business columnist with the Post.

Previously she held positions in US government, including Dep. Asst. Secretary of Labor for Policy and Research, as well as in private organizations including Chrysler, Mathematica, the Urban Institute and the Brookings Institution. She has been a member of the Comptroller General’s Advisory Board, the Council on Foreign Relations, the National Academy of Social Insurance and the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center Advisory Board.[4]

In 1960, she married Princeton alumnus lawyer George V. Allen Jr., a conservationist who severed as the deputy assistant administrator in the EPA at its founding.[5] He also served on the boards of Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, American Rivers, and the Population Institute. When his health condition deteriorated due to Parkinson's Disease, she retired from the Pew Research Center in 2011.
