Kate McCann

Kate McCann is a former Sky News political correspondent and Telegraph journalist[2] who is now political editor of TalkTV.[3]

McCann was educated at a comprehensive school in Yorkshire[4] before she studied politics at Newcastle University between 2006 and 2009[5] where she was a news editor for the university newspaper, The Courier.[6]

In September 2015, McCann joined The Telegraph as senior political correspondent, after previously working for The Guardian.[2] While working for The Telegraph in 2017, McCann was leaked a draft of Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn's draft manifesto that the paper then published, which she later described as the highlight of her career.[3]

In 2018, McCann became chair of Parliament's press gallery[1] and worked in the Westminster Lobby for The Sun and City A.M. for over four years.[2]

In July 2018, she became a political correspondent for Sky News.[2] In April 2022, she left Sky to work for TalkTV,[3] and is based in Westminster.[1]

In July 2022, McCann was the co-host of TalkTV's The Sun's Showdown: The Fight for No.10, a televised election debate between Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss, the two remaining candidates for the leadership of the Conservative Party. During a speech by Truss on the show, McCann fainted; as a result, the show came off air. Footage of Truss's reaction to the collapse soon went viral on social media.[5][7] She recovered shortly afterwards, telling the Sun's political journalist Kate Ferguson that she was "a little embarrassed, a little bit bruised but glad to be back and totally fine".[8][9]

On 23 August 2022 it was announced that McCann would co-present a Sunday morning political programme with Adam Boulton on Times Radio. The first edition of Sunday Morning with Kate McCann and Adam Boulton aired on 4 September.[10]
