RWM Schweiz
RWM Schweiz is a subsidiary of Rheinmetall AG. it was formerly known as Oerlikon Contraves Pyrotec AG. This business unit develops the explosive fragmentation AHEAD bullets that are used by Rheinmetall systems such as the Skyguard and Revolver Gun for air defence purposes.[1]
Synopsis
The firm "specialises in the development and manufacture of medium calibre ammunition for land, air and naval applications, including antiaircraft rounds."[2]
The firm produces ammunition of calibre between 20mm and 35mm.[3]
The firm produces FAPDS rounds.[4]
In 1988 the firm was listed as the beneficial owner of a patent for winged-stabilized ammunition.[5]
In 2005 the firm was listed in a presentation entitled "Oerlikon Ammunition for New Defense Environment" at the NDIA 40th Annual Armament Systems conference.[6]
In May 2022 after the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine the press remarked that NATO Allies had been increasing their purchases of the firm's ammunition.[7]
