Tatamma Kala

Tatamma Kala (transl. Great-Grandmother's Dream) is a 1974 Telugu-language drama film, produced by Bhanumathi Ramakrishna directed by N. T. Rama Rao under his Ramakrishna Cine Studios banner. The film stars N. T. Rama Rao, Bhanumathi Ramakrishna, debutant Nandamuri Balakrishna[2][3] and has music composed by S. Rajeswara Rao.[4]

Plot

The film begins in a village where Ravamma an indomitable woman whose husband Musalaiah becomes a wanderer. So, Ravamma safeguards their property and rears her grandson Ramaiah who lost his parents in his childhood. Time passes, Ramaiah spices Seeta and they are blessed with five children. Tragically, the family becomes a victim of the land ceiling act.

Hence, distressed Ramayya migrates to the city. Anyhow, spurned Ravamma lefts behind. Ramaiah lands in the city and gains a job in a firm. Years rolled by, and the children grew up with different mentalities, eldest one Govindu knits an intercaste girl Saru, and be situated at his in-law's house. The second Hareram a hippie, and the third Venkatesam a mechanic is clutched by a dancer, Mala, and the daughter Rama turns a scapegoat for the modern lifestyle. Time gets worse, Ramaiah is sentenced for the crime committed by Hareram and Seeta commits suicide.

In the wrecked, the only one Balakrishna a genial is left alone and proceeds to his great-grandmother. By that time, Ravamma is 97 years old and is delightful spotting her great-grandson. As of now, Balakrishna is aware of the village is under the hardship of drought. Thus, he triumphs in acquiring green revolution utilizing modern techniques for which he is honored with the Krishi Pandit award from the Govt of India which he bestows on his great-grandmother. Presently, Ravamma is so smug as her great-grandson fulfilled the dream for which she is striving. At last, Ramaiah is acquitting who backs along with the remaining family, following Musalaiah too. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note with the reunion of the family.
