The Athenian Touch
The Athenian Touch is a 1964 Off-Broadway musical with a book by Arthur Goodman and J. Albert Fracht, music by Willard Straight, and lyrics by David Eddy.[1] It opened January 14, 1964 at the Jan Hus Playhouse, and ran for a single performance.[2][3]
Synopsis
Ancient Greek playwright Aristophanes competes with Athenian statesman Cleon for the affections of a courtesan, Attalea.[4] Aristophanes is also writing Lysistrata, and is on trial due to its content, which includes women withholding sex from men until they stop fighting wars.[4] Attalea helps get Aristophanes' trial thrown out, and helps reconcile Cleon with his wife.[4]
