Soul Assassins

Soul Assassins is a collective from Los Angeles, comprised of artists both musical and visual across the United States. The musical arm, and debut incarnation was created by Cypress Hill member and producer DJ Muggs in 1997, who released four eponymously titled compilation albums over two decades. In addition, an art studio of the same name was later created by chicano artists and friends Estevan Oriol (analogue street photographer) and Mister Cartoon (street artist and tattooer).[1] Since its debut album, Soul Assassins has also evolved into a clothing brand and a record label in their own rights respectively, both focused on limited edition, high-quality releases.

Musically, the Soul Assassins collective consists of a wide range of underground hip-hop artists and producers such as La The Darkman, Meyhem Lauren, GZA, Rome Streetz, Crimeapple, Mach-Hommy, B-Real, Havoc, Roc Marciano, Alchemist, Eto and many more, who have either collaborated with DJ Muggs on releases directly, or featured on the eponymously titled album series.

Whilst the debut studio album featured production exclusively from Muggs, the second and third studio albums saw contributions from other producers such as The Alchemist and DJ Khalil.[2][3]
