Ullu is an Over-The-Top media streaming platform, owned and maintained by Vibhu Agarwal, founder and group CEO of Ullu and Atrangii.[2][3][4] It is currently available for Android and iOS.

Note — While India have already a Law for "Adult and obscene content, which says manufacturing, publishing, distribution, sale, or circulation of obscene and Pornographic or soft–pornographic materials both are illegal in India under section 292 293, IT act 67B .

From year 2020 — During COVID-19 pandemic, In the absence of a proper OTT streaming content regulation code, Along with Ullu, many such new OTT platforms came out and started making obscene and pornographic content. which contains heavy doses of Nudity, softcore pornography, vulgarity, obscenity, abusive language and Sexually objectifying women and hurting Hindu religious sentiments in its content.[13][14][15][16]

In year 2021 — Supreme court of India and National Commission for Women both have criticized the Indian government and said that, in the absence of proper OTT content regulation code, every month new OTT platform came out and started making content which present women as sex object, obscenity and some even showing Nudity and Pornography too.[17][18][19][20][21][22]

In 2021-22 — ministry of information and broadcasting released new OTT content code.

After OTT content code of ethics came into power since August 2022, Where many OTT streaming platform like Altbalalji, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, ZEE5, Voot and SonyLIV etc., changes in their controversial and adult content and improved their content according to Code of ethics, But Until now, Ullu illegally and continually making pornographic and obscene content as same as he was making from the beginning.

  • Softcore pornography is the core of all Ullu's shows, so full filling its style, Ullu presents women in its shows as sex objects, where actresses are portrayed only for sexual pleasure, and are exploited, seduced given or forced to commit obscene acts.
  • In 2020, some actress have accused Ullu for wrongfully edited her intimate scenes and described the situation for leaked her series on Porn sites, added "This is on-screen molestation".
  • Many of the actresses have gone in a state of depression due to their intimate scene leaked in Porn sites.[24][16][25][26][14][27][28][17][29]

In 2022 the government of India came out with OTT law and regulation Code, which includes Code of ethics and Intermediary guidelines for OTT streaming platforms/websites, to prevent Softcore pornography, nudity, obscenity, vulgarity and Sexual objectification of women etc. which every streaming platform has to follow.

Even now in 2023, despite the OTT code of ethics rules, Ullu continually making Softcore Pornography as a web series, as he was doing from beginning. ,

Tie-ups

In February 2020, MX Player collaborated with the Ullu app for Adult shows. After a year, when the government announced intermediary guidelines for OTT platforms in February 2021, MX Player removed all shows of Ullu.[13]
