Alvin C. York

Alvin Cullum York (13 Desember 1887 – 2 September 1964 ), yang juga dikenal sebagai Sersan York, adalah salah satu prajurit Angkatan Darat Amerika Serikat yang paling dihargai pada Perang Dunia I.[1] Ia meraih Medal of Honor karena memimpin sebuah serangan terhadap sarang senjata mesin Jerman, merampas 35 senjata mesin, menewaskan sekitar 25 prajurit musuh, dan menangkap 132 pasukan. Tindakan yang membuat York meraih Medal of Honor tersebut terjadi saat Amerika Serikat memimpin Serangan Meuse-Argonne di Prancis, yang bertujuan untuk menerobos garis Hindenburg dan memaksa pasukan Jerman untuk menyerah.
