Memulai karier juniornya di klub Chicago Magic kemudian di klub North Carolina Tar Heels. Setelah satu tahun di North Carolina Tar Heels kemudian pindah ke Aston Villa[2] yang sempat meminjamkannya ke Lincoln City,[3] Leyton Orient[4] dan Leeds United[5] sebelum bergabung dengan Nottingham Forest.[6]
