Hugo Gernsback

Hugo Gernsback (nama lahir Hugo Gernsbacher, 16 Agustus 1884 – 19 Agustus 1967 ) adalah seorang penemu, penulis, penyunting dan penerbit majalah Luksemburg-Amerika, yang dikenal karena menerbitkan majalah fiksi ilmiah pertama. Kontribusinya paa genre tersebut sebagai penerbit–meskipun bukanlah sebagai seorang penulis–sangatlah signifikan yang, bersama dengan novelis H. G. Wells dan Jules Verne, menjadikannya terkadang disebut "Bapak Fiksi Ilmiah".[1] Dalam menghormatinya, penghargaan yang dipersembahkan di Konvensi Fiksi Ilmiah Sedunia dinamai "Penghargaan Hugo".[2]
