Messier 30

Messier 30 (dikenal juga sebagai M30 atau NGC 7099 ) adalah sebuah gugus bola yang terletak di rasi bintang Capricornus. Gugus ini ditemukan oleh Charles Messier pada tahun 1764. Gugus ini dapat dilihat dengan mudah menggunakan teropong 10×50 memperlihatkan sekumpulan cahaya redup dengan lebar 4 menit busur.[2] Dengan peralatan yang lebih besar, dapat terlihat masing-masing bintang dan gugus akan terlihat dalam sudut 12 menit busur.[3] Waktu yang paling baik untuk mengamati adalah bulan Agustus.[2]

M30 terletak pada jarak sekitar 29,40000 tahun cahaya[4] dari Bumi dan memiliki diameter sekitar 93 tahun cahaya.[3] Umurnya diperkiraka 12.93 miliar tahun,[5] dan memiliki masa 160,000 kali masa matahari.[6]
