Palaeoloxodon falconeri
Palaeoloxodon falconeri (juga disebut Elephas falconeri atau gajah kerdil) adalah spesies gajah Sisilia-Malta yang telah punah. Spesies ini terkait erat dengan gajah Asia modern. Pada tahun 1867, George Busk mengusulkan keberadaan Elephas falconeri dari geraham-geraham kecil dari materi yang awalnya dikaitkan dengan Palaeoloxodon melitensis oleh Hugh Falconer.[1][2] Spesies gajah ini merupakan contoh dwarfisme pulau; tinggi gajah ini hanya mencapai 90 cm (3 kaki). Nenek moyang P. falconeri kemungkinan mencapai kepulauan Mediterania saat Zaman Es.
