Richard dari York

Richard dari York, Adipati York ke-3 KG (21 September 1411 – 30 Desember 1460 ), merupakan seorang magnate Inggris utama, cicit Raja Edward III dari ayahnya, dan anak buyut dari raja yang sama melalui ibunya. Ia mewarisi lahan yang besar dan menjabat dalam berbagai jabatan kenegaraan di Irlandia, Prancis, dan Inggris, sebuah negara yang secara mutlak ia perintah sebagai Lord Protector pada masa pemerintahan Raja Henry VI.

Konfliknya dengan istri Henry, Margaret of Anjou, dan para anggota pemerintahan Henry lainnya, serta perebutan klaimnya terhadap takhta, menjadi faktor utama dalam kebangkitan politik di Inggris pada pertengahan abad kelima belas, dan sebab besar dari Peperangan Mawar. Richard kemudian berupaya untuk mengambil takhta, tetapi dicegah, meskipun disepakati bahwa ia akan menjadi raja saat Henry meninggal. Namun beberapa bulan setelah perjanjian tersebut, ia tewas dalam pertempuran.

Meskipun Richard sendiri tak pernah menjadi raja, ia merupakan ayah dari Raja Edward IV dan Raja Richard III.
