Sekolah katedral

Sekolah katedral dimulai pada Abad Pertengahan Awal sebagai pusat pendidikan terapan, beberapa diantaranya berevolusi menjadi universitas abad pertengahan. Sepanjang Abad Pertengahan dan seterusnya, mereka dikomplemensikan oleh sekolah monastik. Beberapa sekolah katedral awal, dan pendirian terkini, masih berlanjut pada zaman modern.

Sekolah katedral Trondheim, yang didrikan pada 1152, adalah sekolah tertua di Norwegia. Sekatang, Katedralskole dijadikan sebagai sekolah menengah.
