Suara Nashville bermula pada pertengahan 1950an sebagai subgenre musik country Amerika, menggantikan dominasi tangga lagu dari musik honky tonk yang sangat populer pada 1940an dan 1950an.[1][2] Subgenre tersebut adalah sebuah upaya "untuk membangkitkan penjualan lagu country, yang telah menurun oleh kebangkitan rock 'n' roll."[2]
