Sumber neutron

Sumber neutron (neutron source) adalah sesuatu yang memancarkan neutron, terlepas dari mekanisme yang terjadi untuk menghasilkan neutron tersebut. Contohnya adalah isotop radioaktif yang meluruh memancarkan neutron, seperti:

⁹Be + >1.7 MeV foton → 2 ⁴He + 1 neutron
²H + >2.26 MeV foton → ¹H + 1 neutron
