Thomas Couture

Thomas Couture, (21 Desember 1815 – 30 Maret 1879 )[1] merupakan seorang pelukis sejarah Prancis dan guru. Dia mengajar tokoh-tokoh dunia seni kemudian seperti Édouard Manet, Henri Fantin-Latour, John La Farge,[2] Pierre Puvis de Chavannes, Karel Javůrek, dan J-N Sylvestre. Ketika dia berusia 11 tahun, keluarganya pindah ke Paris, di mana dia akan belajar di Arts et Métiers ParisTech dan kemudian di École des Beaux-Arts. Tidak banyak yang mengetahui bahwa dia adalah seorang pelukis dan guru yang penting. Karyanya yang paling terkenal berjudul Les Romains de la décadence.[3]
