Union of Concerned Scientists
A Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) ou União de Cientistas Preocupados é uma organização sem fins lucrativos de cientistas para proteção ambiental com sede no Estados Unidos. A participação da UCS inclui muitos cidadãos, além de cientistas profissionais. Foi fundada em 1969 por estudantes e cientistas no MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).Consternados com a forma como o governo dos Estados Unidos estava a fazer mau uso da ciência, os fundadores da UCS, incluindo Henry Kendall e Kurt Gottfried, redigiram uma declaração [1] apelando a que a investigação científica fosse dirigida para longe das tecnologias militares e para a resolução de problemas ambientais e sociais prementes.[2]
Anne Kapuscinski, professora de ciências de sustentabilifade no Dartmouth College, atualmente (desde Outubro de 2015) preside o Conselho de Administração da UCS.[3]
