Wilferd Madelung

Wilferd Ferdinand Madelung (n. 1930)[1] é um autor e estudioso germano-americano da história islâmica.

Carreira

Madelung foi professor Laudian de árabe na Universidade de Oxford de 1978 a 1998. Ele escreveu extensivamente sobre a história inicial do Islã, bem como sobre seitas islâmicas como os xiitas e os ismaelitas. Ele também escreveu artigos para revistas acadêmicas e palestras sobre o Ibadismo.[2] Ele atuou nos conselhos editoriais de várias revistas acadêmicas, incluindo o Journal of Arabic and Islamic Studies. Atualmente é pesquisador sênior do Institute for Ismaili Studies em Londres.[3]
