This relates to a prior question (Ubuntu 20.04 gnome-shell continual 20% CPU usage). I am using 20.04 on an AMD 4-core (8 fixed point core) desktop. I use gnome-flashback. gnome-panel is using 14.2% continuously. I have read that the system monitor is to blame. I'm just wondering whether any developers are working to make this app any more efficient. It takes 14% of a cpu just to check on the cpu? At any rate, the monitor is useful, so I would like to keep it as part of my panel.

In the meantime, you may consider using a different resource monitor if the bug is so bad that it interferes with using the device or if you are unsatisfied with the application's "weight" in resources. – Nmath Nov 06 '21 at 20:09
