Background

Founded in 2018 by professors from Yale and Columbia Universities, CertiK is a blockchain security company that pioneered the use of formal verification technology on smart contracts and blockchain networks.

The company also conducts security audits for blockchain protocols, wallets, DApps, and smart contracts. It has partnerships with many blockchain companies including Binance. CertiK audit tools aim to reveal exploits and other security weaknesses to blockchain outfits, however, they do not fix any of the issues. The audit simply finds them and offers advice for patching security holes for these companies and it is currently used by over 500 blockchain companies.[3]

In April 2022, the company was valued at $2 billion after securing an $88 million Series B3 financing round. The investment was backed by Insight Partners, Tiger Global, Sequoia, Coatue Management, Advent International, Goldman Sachs, Hillhouse Capital, Binance, Coinbase Ventures, amongst others.[4][5]
