Good Russians

"Good Russians" (Russian: Хорошие русские, romanized: Khoroshiye russkiye; Ukrainian: Хороші росіяни, romanized: Khoroshi rosiyany) is a term popularized during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. It means to show that Russians are "the good people" in Russian government propaganda.[1][2]

History of the term

"Good Russians" has been used since the start of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.[3] It was popularized in Russian media and Russian-war propaganda.[4] It started being popularized on Russian television and Russian social media applications like VK.[5] A lot of pro-Russian artists, actors, politicians, and pro-Russian influencers, like Maxim Katz, started using this term to signal their support for Russia in the Russian invasion of Ukraine and to show that "not all Russian are bad".[6] Many Russian military leaders have also used this as a way to show that what their doing is right.[7]
