Gopal Jee Thakur

Gopal Jee Thakur (born 15 October 1969) is an Indian Politician. He is a member of 17th Lok Sabha, representing Darbhanga (Loksabha constituency).[3][4][5] He was a member (MLA) of the Bihar legislative assembly from the Benipur constituency as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2010 and served as Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party[2] State Unit of Bihar, India. He is also a Member of Standing Committee on Railways, Member of Consultative Committee, Ministry of Railways. In 2021, He became special invitee member of BJP's National Executive committee.

Thakur is a senior BJP leader from Mithila Region of Bihar. He was elected from Darbhanga Lok Sabha seat by a margin of 267,979 votes. He defeated RJD candidate Abdul Bari Siddiqui . Gopal Jee Thakur is popularly admired for his hard work and development politics.

Early life

Gopal Jee Thakur was born on 15th of October 1969 to a Maithil Brahmin family of Parri village, Darbhanga district. His father late Shri Ganesh Prashad Thakur (Popularly known as Kishan Bhai) was a farmer, a Science teacher and a member of Sangh parivar. Gopal Jee Thakur is a Ph.D in Sociology. An agriculturist by profession, Thakur has been active in Politics since his student life. He was very active in student politics of darbhanga during 1985 to 1990. He became a political figure and a social worker. After winning the 2019 General election from Darbhanga Loksabha, Thakur became the first local MP (Member of Parliament) from Darbhanga District with highest vote of 5,86,668 in the history of Darbhanga Loksabha election. Gopal Jee Thakur is active in Darbhanga district.

Career

Gopal Jee Thakur started his Political career by stepping into the Student Politics of Darbhanga District of Bihar State. He was very active in student politics of Darbhanga during 1985 to 1990. He is a Member of Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh since his childhood.
