Kounice (German: Kaunitz) is a market town in Nymburk District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 1,600 inhabitants.

Geography

Kounice is located about 15 kilometres (9 mi) southwest of Nymburk and 20 km (12 mi) east of Prague. It lies in the Central Elbe Table lowland within the Polabí region.

History

The first written mention of Kounice is from 1257.[2]
