Unicorn Wars is a 2022 Spanish-French adult animated fantasy anti-war film written and directed by Alberto Vázquez.

Plot
Featuring the backdrop of an age-old war pitting religiously-bigoted teddy bears against environmentalist unicorns, the plot underscores how two bear siblings vie for the love of their mother.[3][4][5]
Production
Alberto Vázquez declared to have three main inspirations when writing the film: Apocalypse Now, Bambi and the Bible.[6] The project was showcased in a 'Work in Progress' panel of the 45th Annecy International Animation Film Festival.[4] A Spanish-French co-production by Abano Producións SL, Uniko Estudio Creativo S.L., Unicorn Wars AIE, Autour de Minuit, Productions SARL, and Schmuby Productions SAS, the film received funding from Eurimages.[7]
Voices in the original Spanish-language track were provided by Jon Goiri, Jaione Insausti, Ramón Barea, Maribel Legarreta, Itxaso Quintana, Manu Heras, Gaizka Soria and Kepa Cueto.[8]
Release
The film was presented at the 46th Annecy International Animation Film Festival on 16 June 2022,[9][10] as part of the festival's official competition.[11][4] It made its US premiere at the Fantastic Fest.[12] Distributed by Barton Films, the film was theatrically released in Spain on 21 October 2022.[13][4] Charades handles the sales elsewhere.[4] It was released in French theatres on 28 December 2022.[14] The film will have a limited theatrical release in North America on 10 March 2023.[15]
Reception
On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a 80% rating based on 10 reviews with an average rating of 7.50/10.[16]
