Mahalia Jackson

Mahalia Jackson (/məˈheɪliə/ MƏ-hay-LEE-ə; 26 Oktober 1911 – 27 Januari 1972 ) adalah seorang penyanyi gospel Amerika Serikat. Memiliki suara contralto,[2] ia disebut sebagai "Ratu Gospel".[1][3][4] Ia menjadi salah satu penyanyi gospel paling berpengaruh di dunia dan dikenal di mancanegara sebagai penyanyi dan aktivis hak sipil.[5] Ia disebut oleh entertainer Harry Belafonte sebagai "wanita kulit hitam paling berpengaruh tunggal di Amerika Serikat".[5] Ia merekam sekitar 30 album (sebagian besa untuk Columbia Records) pada mas akarirnya, dan rekaman-rekaman 45 rpm buatannya termasuk dalam puluhan juta karya "emas".
