Manuel Castells

Manuel Castells (bahasa Spanyol: Manuel Castells Oliván, diucapkan [kaˈsteʎs]; lahir 1942) adalah sosiolog Spanyol yang meneliti masyarakat informasi, komunikasi, dan globalisasi.

Survei penelitian Social Sciences Citation Index tahun 2000–09 menempatkan Castells di peringkat kelima dalam daftar pakar ilmu sosial yang paling banyak dikutip di dunia, dan peringkat pertama dalam daftar pakar komunikasi yang paling banyak dikutip.[1]

Ia dianugerahi Hadiah Holberg pada tahun 2012[2] karena "telah membuat kita memahami dinamika politik ekonomi kota dan global dalam masyarakat berjaringan."[3] Pada tahun 2013, ia dianugerahi Hadiah Balzan.
